Turfdry is extremely sad to report the tragic death of one of its former employees, Zsolt Rabi, who died following a severe reaction to a hornet sting in Hungary on 14th July. Zsolt was one of the most likeable people that you could ever wish to meet. He was first employed by Turfdry via an employment agency in 2005, when we were engaged by Essex County Council on a major project of school playing field drainage improvements, but it was immediately apparent that Zsolt was a perfect fit for Turfdry and he was soon employed on a full-time basis. He was hard-working, conscientious, polite and punctual, and it didn’t take us long to realise that if Zsolt was a typical Hungarian, then would should perhaps look to employ some of his compatriots. This was the beginning of the strong bond that now exists between Turfdry and its majority-Hungarian workforce.
Turfdry’s site foreman Stuart and his wife Teresa had Zsolt living with them for several months and when Zsolt invited them to visit Hungary they formed a genuine attachment to the people in his village, not far from Budapest, from where Turfdry has since employed many excellent people. Zsolt moved back to Hungary only recently and bought a house with his savings. To lose his life at such a young age in the manner that he did is a genuine tragedy. Zsolt’s funeral will be held on 9th August. Stuart will be flying out to attend the funeral and represent Turfdry.
