Golf Course Greens Drainage

Long Ashton GC, Bristol, first tried the Turfdry Drainage System when it was installed on their new 7th and 8th fairways in 1998, when current Head Greenkeeper James Braithwaite was assistant to Ivor Scoones. The drainage proved really successful and when, a decade later, the Club was looking to improve drainage on some greens, James did not hesitate to get in touch again with Turfdry, particularly after having heard good reports of the success of the Turfdry (Greens) Drainage System when installed on clay-based greens on other courses.

Proposals were drawn up for schemes for the 8th and 15th greens and the works were given approval to be undertaken in October 2009.

The golf club and members have been very pleased with the results and Turfdry returned to the club to drain two further greens at Long Ashton GC using the Turfdry (Greens) Drainage System in October 2011.

A selection of photographs from the 8th green is shown below, courtesy of James Braithwaite.
